About Crux

Built by operators who lived inside insurance.

60+ years combined inside insurance technology. We started at ImageRight — rolling out the software that took carriers and agencies paperless, a massive industry disruption — then built at TechCanary, led enterprise sales at Applied Systems, and sat inside the largest brokerages in the country. That shift changed the industry once. Branded AI agents are the next — and we’re here to help the industry through this one too.

I’m a builder at heart. My insurance tech journey started at ImageRight — a scrappy Atlanta startup — and continued at Vertafore. I left to be a Solution Architect on an IBM product, but insurance pulled me back in: a New York broker building automation on Salesforce. Implementing a product and living with it every day are two different things — the broker seat is where I learned the hard stuff. Met the team there I’d later run Professional Services with at TechCanary, then led Consulting & Custom Development at Applied Systems. At every seat, I couldn’t always say yes — even to simple problems I knew we could solve. Now at Crux, I get to.

I’ve worked insurance from every seat. Started in carrier tech at BCBS and Assurance America, met Ricky at ImageRight, and spent the next twenty years delivering and running software for brokerages at Vertafore, TechCanary, and Applied Systems. Along the way I ran one of those brokerages as CIO — which is where I learned what the software actually misses. I also got my P&C license in New York, because I wanted to know what it’s like to sell a policy, not just build the tool around it. That’s what we’re here to fix.

I started my career on Wall Street trading floors before jumping to Applied Systems — and spent the next two decades there, watching it scale from mid-market into the industry leader. I sold into and delivered for everyone from two-person agencies to the largest brokerages in the world. I’ve seen up close what gets insurance software adopted, and what gets it shelved. That’s the lens I’m bringing to Crux.

Our edge

Deep vertical domain is the product.

A general-purpose agent doesn’t know an ACORD 25 from an ACORD 125, doesn’t understand what “primary and non-contributory” means on a GC’s cert, and doesn’t know why a submission in excess needs to quote differently than one in admitted. We do — because we’ve done the work.

Built for brokerage workflows

Submissions, renewals, certificates, endorsements, payments — the agent knows each flow from the inside.

Fluent in the systems

AMS360, Applied Epic, HawkSoft, QQ Catalyst, AgencyZoom — plus CRMs, carrier portals, and inboxes. Real integrations, not mock APIs.

Trained on real insurance language

Every agent ships knowing how underwriters, producers, and insureds actually talk — not generic support-center chatter.

Building the company we wished existed.

If you’re a brokerage leader exploring branded agents, or an operator / engineer who wants to build inside insurance — we’d love to talk.
